  1. There is a stretch of hwy I travel each day to get to and from work.. Along this one mile of straight hwy there is an exit and a speed sign.. So, I marked it with gps and it no longer alerts to the K band.. But, evidently troopers are aware of the K band signal as well, and are actually using it to ambush drivers that are so used to the alert and ignoring it.. So, when I got a Ka alert I knew something wasn't right.. Plenty of time to slow, before I was tagged at 70 mph.. I love this detector!

  2. Okay so I bought this on your recommendation for thru driving …grad school syracuse ny to albany. idk If I have it set up wrong or what but the thing literally beeps nonstop and when I mean nonstop i mean from time I plug it in for the entire drive. Is this normal? because it was extremely annoying the constant beeping. I was forced to turn the Vol down to zero and just try to watch it. Please help . tell me I didn't just waste 400 on something I can't stand .

  3. I just sold my Escort Max. What would you consider the absolute best option for mixed urban/rural/highway driving? I don't need a "set it and forget it" detector. Willing to toy with it awhile. I'm considering the Uniden R3 or the Radenso XP.

  4. Vortex Radar, thanks for the great, in-depth reviews and analysis.  I recently discovered your channel as I'm in the market for a radar detector again after purchasing a new 2017 Chevrolet SS.  I really am excited about the Uniden R3, however, with a Chevrolet, I'm concerned that you mentioned about false alerts with BSM for GM cars.  I haven't actually heard you mentioning anything about what cars it is best to use different detectors in considering this potential issue.  Am I going to basically be false detecting myself everywhere I go, if I get the Uniden R3, since I'm driving a GM car with BSM, rear cross-traffic, forward collision alerts etc.?  I would really like to know the answer to this before I buy, and haven't seen you mention this specific issue in any of your videos.

  5. hey vortex I been having the R3 uniden for 3 week now and i see many cops and sheriff driving around and it not going off. Even on highway. Cars are getting pull over and R3 not going off. Is it the radar or because the cops not turning it on?

  6. Hello Vortex,
great videos, I am loving your channel. I was wondering If the UNIDEN R3 would work outside the US? Do you have any ideas on that? I am looking for best radar detector for Europe use.

  7. Given your contact with Uniden, could you suggest they do something to increase the alert volume? I feel it's far too quiet coming from an STI Magnum. Keep up the great videos!

  8. Do you think it would be better to get a r1 or the dfr7 with gps? Long range would be nice but wouldn't the r1 go off at stores from a long distance too because it doesnt have lockouts? The r3 is just too expensive for me atm.

  9. OMG, thought something was wrong with my R3, it just goes off on KA band sometime and not shut up from home to work (20miles) have to shut it off and back on again. Hope this update will do the trick.

  10. Thank you for the video. Also thanks for the firmware one as well. Just updated my R3 in a couple minutes. I have gotten a few false alerts on 1.25, but otherwise happy with the R3. Love seeing the band and don't have to try and figure which light is showing like on the V1. I smile now as I pass cars with BSM and see the lights in the side mirrors and no alerts going off non stop. Had to literally either turn off K or shut sound off on my older V1. I will say I do miss my arrows. What I don't miss is the old school V1 send it in mentality for firmware upgrades. Valentine needs to add a usb port and use a screen. Still love it for all the saves it has racked up over the years, but it's seriously outdated on the outside. I will never buy another one until they step up their game. Anyway, thanks again and keep the videos coming. Take care.

  11. Hey man! Appreciate these reviews!
Ive seen some videos that would suggest from the testing done, that the Escort Redline's Ka Band detection is slightly better, (alerting sooner) then compared to the range of the Uniden R1/R3.

I've read some comments and seen a few videos that the Redline, with its ability to suppress and filter through Ka Band Segmentation, that it's alerting slightly sooner than the Uniden R1/R3?!

What have been your findings or experience through testing?
Can you perhaps do a separate video sharing your thoughts or comparing these two proclaimed kings 🙂 , " maybe a head to head comparison" on all bands ?
    Thanks man!

  12. As always great video but please please please slow down you're racing thru this like you life depends on it. If it takes 5 7 or 15 minutes take it, some of our ears can't keep up with you lips and the important part is the information you're relating to a wide audience.

  13. I'm a new follower to your channel. You are most informative and unbiased. FYI, i like your intro music but it's very loud / or your video volume is low. I always have to turn up the volume after your intro. / I've had an Escort 8500 X50 for about 10 years and it finally crapped out. I'm looking to upgrade it to a Uniden R1 in the future. I had no idea technology has jumped so far in 10 years. Thanks for all your hard work making videos, it's much appreciated!
